Recommendations for Visitors
- Hotel reception will give you information about the streets and places you want to visit and we recommend you advise reception where you are going.
- Take with you the name, address and telephone number of yout hotel. This is useful data for easily finding where you are staying.
- If you go out at night is advisable to go with someone else or in a group.
- Do not walk aling dark, quiet streets at night. Some streets lack illumination and police protection.
- When visiting Archaeological sites outside the city, keep to authorized and well traveled paths and only during visiting hours. Opening hours at tourist attractions are fixed and subject to regulations.
- Never contract a tour or other tourist services in the street. Do so via an authorized travel agent. There are unauthorized persons that offers excursions, tours, transport, hotels, restaurants, airline tickets, dance and other events. A list of legitimate travel agents may be obtained at our tourist information offices.
- You should receive a detailed document indicating exactly what you have paid for, this is important to assure you receive what you pay for.
- if you take a taxi, take note of the licence plate and if convenient advice the hotel reception. Authorized taxis are identified by black and yellow chessboard checkered on the sides of the vehicle and by a polygonal yellow sticker on the windshield. Radio taxis ordered from your hotel are by the far the safest.
- Make sure you get a receipt (Boleta de Venta o Factura) detailing the services you have paid for.
- Always take care of your personal belongings in public and crowded places, like plazas, markets, bus stations and airports. Don't get distracted and pay attention to you belongings, cameras, bags and other personal baggage and belongings.
